About this series

A city remembered through its textures.

Montreal began with an exploration of generative textures. Wear, stains, and marks brought back memories of old hockey socks, opening a path toward other places and moments from my life.

The series developed through restrained palettes and compositions, with personal writing embedded in each inscription. Together, the images and notes form a record of the city as I remember it.

Artist’s notes

Driving back to the south shore ou bien l'ile des soeurs after a night out in town, you can't miss the sign. Farine Five Roses, a beauty at night, à Montreal quand on fait la fête! - FNST

Original artist writing · inscription HTML archive

The My Love palette began in Gentleman Nº1, was sampled and adjusted for 99 Francs, and gained its Deep Pink (#E91E63) in Five Roses. Lemonhaze traces that sequence from March 2023 to January 2024.

In June 2026, Lemonhaze shared a new connection with this Montreal landmark: the Five Roses sign was visible from the balcony of his new apartment.
