A guide to approaching the work
A little context for moving from an image on a screen to the artwork, its writing, and its provenance.
A work, then its record:
Open the artwork and stay with the image. Read the note attached to it. A gallery thumbnail is a preview. The work is a Bitcoin inscription. It sits on a sat, and that sat is held in a UTXO. To hold the work is to hold that output.
What you are collecting
Static images. Use the work's own image, and keep its proportions.
HTML and generative works. Open the original content viewer on Bitcoin. Press ‘S’ to save the high-resolution PNG. Controls differ by work. Dynamic works can export a WEBM from that viewer. Convert it to MP4 if you need to. The export is for display. The inscription remains the work.
Paint Engines. An output is an interaction with the engine. It does not create a new inscription.
BEST BEFORE. It is alive. Its visible state depends on activation and block time, and it has to be watched from the chain to be seen fully. No native WEBM export was a deliberate choice. Only pictures can remain of those who expired.
Originals, editions, parents
Read the work's own details. Edition size and format change by series. A collection parent links a family of inscriptions. It is not a substitute for the individual work.
