All works inscribed on Bitcoin

Old-Fashioned

"Old-Fashioned" is a blend of tradition and a grand vision. Inscribed on vintage sats from block 78, this collection pushes the boundaries of on-chain art by presenting ultra-high resolution (20K) artworks on Bitcoin. Each pieces use a combination of randomness in layout and texture design, coupled with a probability-based color selection that adds a layer of intrigue into the creation process. Additionally, viewers can find intriguing notes embedded within the HTML header of each artwork, offering a deeper glimpse into the narrative behind the tradition.

Scale through recursion

Old-Fashioned combines very small HTML inscriptions with the ability to generate very large images. By September 2024, exports reached around 20,000 × 20,000 pixels, with PNG files of roughly 300–650 MB, generated from HTML inscriptions under 1 KB using recursion.

These large files are generated images; the inscription itself remains small. A work can take up to 90 seconds to load. Its scale asks the viewer to give it time.

1961 · Learning to leave a note

The header of 1961 contains “Like Father, Like Son.” Early notes like this were brief, sometimes unsigned, and not always developed beyond a title.

The shift toward HTML and p5.js began in September 2023, with help from OnChainMonkey and the huuep library. Writing in the header gradually became a larger part of the work itself.

In June 2026, seeing his father for the first time in over twelve years brought Lemonhaze back to 1961 and its “Like Father, Like Son” header. The reunion gave the 2023 work a new connection to his life.

An early exhibition

The August 2023 Ordinals Summit in Singapore marked Lemonhaze’s first exhibition of his work in person, with Old-Fashioned part of that early exhibition history.

Artist’s notes

The header of 1961 contains “Like Father, Like Son.” In a January 2025 reflection on the work, Lemonhaze recalled that early notes were not always signed or developed beyond a title.
