From textile to code
Manufactured began with an attraction to textile patterns and textures, particularly the work of Gunta Stölzl and the Bauhaus movement.
The possibility of an artwork becoming part of everyday life—a rug, a beach towel, a phone background—fed a wider critique of prefabricated art-market products. The collection’s texture and its questions about art as a commodity developed together.
The textile reference also prompted a physical experiment: in April 2024, Lemonhaze ordered a fabric sample to see the work beyond the screen.
A release with consequences
The April 2024 release used the Bitcoin halving as a deadline. After the halving, the 103 unsold works were scheduled to be sent to Satoshi’s address. The images would remain publicly visible even as those works left circulation.
Games extended that relationship: collectors give up three Manufactured works to bring one personally dedicated Game into existence. These release figures belong to the collection’s history; Supply & Marketplace shows its current circulation.
