Ed is CIN’s investment banking and public markets expert. He founded HNA in 2016 following a successful career as an entrepreneur and Wall Street financier focused on financings and M&A transactions for large U.S. and international clients. Beginning in the 1990's, Ed served as CFO of three startup companies which he led to liquidity: a wireless company acquired by AT&T for $400 million; an Internet company purchased by Disney for $1 billion; and an online high school purchased by the parent company of the University of Phoenix. Previously, Ed was involved in education innovation, including serving as VP Business Development for Apex Learning, a leading digital curriculum company; and as a key member of the team that managed the venture capital portfolio of Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen. At Vulcan, Ed was responsible for overseeing investments in a wide range of communications and technology companies. Ed has served on several public company boards, including Edison Schools, acquired by private equity for $190 million; and Click2Learn, which completed a merger of equals with a public competitor valued at $400 million.
