Carmella Murphy Houston

Carmella Murphy Houston has over two decades of commercial banking experience. She currently serves as Vice President of Business Services at Salal Credit Union, a Seattle-based cooperative financial institution with over $500 million in assets. In 2013 she launched Salal’s business and commercial real estate division and now oversees a portfolio of $150+ million in loans and deposits with her team’s support.  In 2014 Carmella spearheaded Salal’s groundbreaking deposit and lending program for state licensed and regulated cannabis businesses in Washington State and expanded into Oregon in 2017.  Before joining Salal, she worked at Kitsap Credit Union, Frontier Bank, the Federal Home Loan Bank of Seattle, and the OCC. Carmella has a Master in Public Administration degree from Seattle University and a Bachelor of Science in finance from Northern Michigan University. She served as a Rotarian for 15 years and has held officer positions on numerous non-profit boards. Carmella is a native Washingtonian and has successfully launched three college graduate sons.
